SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Henry Bernal Saenz of Alton, who passed
4away on September 30, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Henry Saenz was born on July 7, 1924 in Las
6Cruces, New Mexico to Marcos and Alice (nee Bernal) Saenz; he
7served in the United States Army Air Corps as a radio operator
8from 1943 to 1945; he married Jo Alice Barnerd on July 11, 1945
9in Wichita Falls, Texas; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Henry Saenz ran the family owned Barleff's
11Menswear in Alton from December 1946 until January 2012; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Henry Saenz was a lifetime member of the Veterans
13of Foreign Wars Post #1308, the American Legion, the Alton
14Eagles Lodge Foe No.254, and the Alton Knights of Columbus
15#460; he was charter member of the Alton Exchange, where he
16served as former District President and former National
17President; he was also a member of the North Alton Godfrey
18Business Council, the Riverbend Growth Association, the Alton
19Wood River Sportsman's Club, the Junior Achievement, and was
20instrumental in the incorporation of Godfrey Township; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Henry Saenz was an avid golfer and enjoyed

1"hitting the links"; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Henry Saenz was preceded in death by his wife, Jo;
3his parents; his son, Brian Henry Saenz; and his sister, Alice
4Mae Rodriquez; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Henry Saenz is survived by his daughter, Diane
6Saenz; his sons, Marc B. Saenz and James E. (Melissa) Saenz;
7his grandchildren, Regan (Cindy) Jones, Ian (fiancee Jeanne)
8Jones, Jennifer (Andy) Dykeman, Stephanie (Steve) Bauer,
9Rebecca (Mike) Elliott, Brian (Kristen) Saenz, Rachel
10(Brandon) Waters, Jessica (Ike) Ruedin, Matthew Saenz, and
11Megan Saenz; his great-grandchildren, Kegan, Lukas, and Quinn
12Jones, Tanner Schaefer, Liam and Adaela Jones, Samantha and
13Sarah Bauer, Elizabeth Foster, Samantha Elliott, Dillon and
14Henry Ruedin, Madeline and Catherine Saenz, and Eli and Simon
15Waters; his sister, Ernestine Chavarria; and his brothers,
16Adolpho, Marcos, Daniel, Samuel, William, and Carl Saenz;
17therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Henry Bernal Saenz, and extend our sincere condolences to his
21family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
