2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Joan Rose Paddock of Alton, who passed |
4 | | away on August 10, 2013; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Joan Paddock was born on October 2, 1923, in St. |
6 | | Louis, Missouri; her parents were Henry and Exie (Pendleton) |
7 | | Jun; she married Warren "Brownie" Paddock on February 5, 1946 |
8 | | in Alton; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Joan Paddock was a graduate of St. Mary's School, |
10 | | Marquette Catholic High School, and Ursuline Business College |
11 | | in Alton; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Joan Paddock worked for Noll Insurance Agency from |
13 | | shortly after her marriage until the birth of her children; in |
14 | | 1963, she became the kindergarten teacher at St. Mary's Grade |
15 | | School, where she taught for 25 years until her retirement in |
16 | | 1988; she taught at the "Little Red School House" for many |
17 | | years; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Following her retirement, Joan Paddock |
19 | | volunteered for Caravan and the St. Anthony's Auxiliary, where |
20 | | she worked in the gift shop; she later worked at |
21 | | Staten-Burke-Fine Funeral Home in Alton as a greeter for 7 |

1 | | years; and
|
2 | | WHEREAS, Joan Paddock was very much a part of her |
3 | | children's, grandchildren's, and great-grandchildren's lives |
4 | | and supported them in all of their activities; she had a great |
5 | | love for St. Mary's Church, Marquette Catholic High School, the |
6 | | Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and her grand-dogs; and |
7 | | WHEREAS, Joan Paddock was preceded in death by her husband, |
8 | | Warren; her parents; and her son-in-law, Spencer Lewis; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Joan Paddock is survived by her daughters and |
10 | | son-in-law, Martha Lewis and Barbara (Larry) McCoy; her |
11 | | grandchildren, Marcy Lewis, Patrick and Chrissy (Visser) |
12 | | Lewis, Brian T. Lewis, and Mandy Lewis (fiance, Josh Cook); and |
13 | | her great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, AJ, Maria, and John-Paul |
14 | | Lewis; therefore, be it

15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
17 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Joan Rose Paddock; and |
18 | | be it further

19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to the family of Joan Paddock as an expression of our |
21 | | sympathy.
