SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Bud Schwegel of Alton, who passed away on
4May 23, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bud Schwegel was born on October 3, 1937, in
6Alton; his parents were Peter and Louise Schwegel; he married
7Phyllis Eppel on April 22, 1957, at St. Mary's Catholic Church
8in Alton; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bud Schwegel was the owner and operator of
10Schwegel's Grocery Stores and Pearl Market, where he dedicated
11his life to serving the community with compassion; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Bud Schwegel enjoyed riding his bikes with his
13friends and family to places such as Sturgis and New Orleans,
14among others; he also enjoyed spending time with his family,
15friends, and customers; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Bud Schwegel was preceded in death by his wife,
17Phyllis; his parents; and his brother and sister-in-law, Pete
18"Jabo" and Maggie Schwegel; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Bud Schwegel is survived by his children and their
20spouses, Pam and Rick Alexander, Lorrie "Pop" and Dave Tholin,

1Theresa "Tee" and Mark Crowson, Mike and Sarah Schwegel, and
2Monica "Baby" and Brian "Soup" Campbell; his grandchildren and
3their spouses, Eileen and Andy Wellinghoff, Chris and Maggie
4O'Neill, Nick Laughlin, Kelley Laughlin, Nate Crowson, Sarah
5Crowson, Adam Schwegel, Alex Campbell, Jake Campbell, and Addie
6Campbell; his great-grandchildren, A.J. and Ella Wellinghoff,
7Leah O'Neill, and Brayden Laughlin; and his siblings and their
8spouses, Carolyn "Keek" and Terry Dooley, Barb "Duck" Fallon,
9Tom and Jeannie Schwegel, Jim "Bodie" and Sue Schwegel, John
10and Margaret Schwegel, Mary "Mokey" and Jim "Dawg" Gillett, and
11Ed "Butch" and Carla Schwegel; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14his family and friends, the passing of Bud Schwegel; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Bud Schwegel as an expression of our
18sympathy.
