SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mary Hill, who passed away on March 15,
42013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mary Hill was born on November 8, 1936, in
6Cherokee County, Oklahoma; her parents were Emmett and Lennie
7Johnson; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mary Hill graduated from East Aurora High School
9in 1954; she subsequently earned her bachelor's degree from
10Northern Illinois University in 1977 and her master's degree in
11public affairs from Northern Illinois University in 1979; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Mary Hill retired from Fermilab in 1997, after
13nearly 20 years of employment; after her retirement, she worked
14as a GED teacher at Waubonsee Community College; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Mary Hill was active in various organizations in
16the Aurora community; she was a former member of the Main
17Baptist Choir under the pastorate of the late Rev. Robert
18Wesby; she was one of the 11 founding members of Progressive
19Baptist Church; she was also a member and a trustee emeritus at
20St. John AME Church; and

1    WHEREAS, Mary Hill was preceded in death by her parents;
2her children, Kim Lee Anderson and Todd Clinton Smith; her
3sister, Doreatha Warden; and her brother, Joe Johnson; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Mary Hill is survived by her beloved husband of 39
5years, Herbert Hill; her son, Gregory A. Hill; her
6grandchildren, Nichole K. (Robert) Allen, Rahshawn C. Lyles
7(I'esha Saxon), Taj C. (Bree) Smith, and LaShonda Holden; her
8great-grandchildren, Mario, Mekai, and Mya Ann Lyles, Jordan
9and Ashton Allen, Jacob Smith, and Senai Saxon; her brothers,
10Robert Lee Johnson and Emmitt Johnson; and her many nieces,
11nephews, and friends; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14her family and friends, the passing of Mary Hill; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Mary Hill as an expression of our
18sympathy.
