SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Charles J. "Duke" Taylor of Canton, who
4passed away on February 6, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charles Taylor was born on April 18, 1929, in
6Canton; his parents were Charles and Madeline Howarter Taylor;
7he married Virginia Buell on July 2, 1955, in Canton; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Charles Taylor served his country as a member of
9the United States Army during the Korean Conflict; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Charles Taylor worked as an inspector at
11Caterpillar Tractor Company for many years until his
12retirement; he also served on the tourism council and was a
13precinct committeeman for the City of Canton for several years;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Charles Taylor was a member of the 1st Christian
16Church in Canton, the Canton Masonic Lodge, Peoria Scottish
17Rites, the Fulton County Democrats, the Canton VFW, and the
18American Legion; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Charles Taylor is survived by his wife; his
20children, Valerie (Dave Berry) Taylor and Penny (Randy) Asper;

1his brother, Virgil Taylor; and his grandchild, Zoe Anderson;
2therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
5his family and friends, the passing of Charles J. "Duke"
6Taylor; and be it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Charles Taylor as an expression of
9our sympathy.
