SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Virginia R. Blomquist (nee Olson) of
4Waukegan, who passed away on December 8, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Virginia Blomquist was born on January 13, 1926,
6in Moline to Swan and Esther Olson; she graduated from Lutheran
7Hospital in Moline and served as a U.S. Army Cadet Nurse; she
8married Rev. Willard C. Blomquist on August 27, 1949, in
9Cambridge; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Virginia Blomquist worked at hospitals in
11Illinois, Minnesota, and Iowa, and served as a field
12representative for the American Cancer Society from 1976-91;
13she was a Chicago Cubs fan, volunteered at her church, and held
14positions such as children's choir director, president of the
15Greenwood School PTA, president of Church Women United, and
16president of Waukegan Woman's Club; she spent many years as a
17membership chairman of the Lake County Community Concerts
18Association; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Virginia Blomquist was preceded in death by her
20parents, Swan and Esther Olson; her 5 brothers; her 5 sisters;
21and 3 infant children; and

1    WHEREAS, Virginia Blomquist is survived by her husband of
263 years, Willard; her 2 daughters, Anne Malecki and Kathryn
3(James) MacNeil; her grandchildren, Matthew (Julia)
4Santullano, Sophie Malecki, and Eryn and John MacNeil; her
5sister, Evelyn Swickard; her 3 great-grandchildren; and many
6nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Virginia Blomquist, and we extend our sincere condolences to
10her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Virginia Blomquist as an expression
14of our deepest sympathy.
