HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Terry Moore on the
4occasion of his retirement from the Randolph County Board of
5Commissioners; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Terry Moore has served as a commissioner for 26
7years and is the longest-serving commissioner in the history of
8the board; he was elected in 1988 when he defeated Kenny
9Stellhorn, who is believed to be the second longest-serving
10commissioner in the board's history; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Terry Moore's accomplishments include serving as
12a member and president of the Illinois Counties Insurance Trust
13and serving on the Randolph County Weed Committee, the
14Bi-County Health Department Board, the Randolph County Mental
15Health Board, the Randolph County Zoning Board, and the
16Memorial Hospital Board in Chester; he was awarded the
17Distinguished Service Award from the Illinois Department of
18Human Services; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Terry Moore is certified with the State of
20Illinois Department of Public Health in food service
21sanitation, the Federal Emergency Management Agency's
22Emergency Management Institute, and Contemporary Life Saving

1Training; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Terry Moore is known as "The Voice of W.O. Smith
3Field" and has announced freshman, sophomore, and varsity
4football games for approximately 30 years; he serves on the
5Finance Committee at St. Mary Parish and was voted "Citizen of
6the Year" by the Chester Chamber of Commerce in 1983; he is a
7past member of Rotary International and is currently the Grand
8Knight at the Knights of Columbus Council #3790; he was crowned
9the very first Popeye King - his mother was the Queen - and he
10is an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Terry Moore will also retire from his position as
12Assistant Business Administrator at the Chester Mental Health
13Center, where he has worked for the past 11 years; previously
14he owned and operated Moore and Wittenborn's Thriftway grocery
15store in Chester, first with his father and then on his own; he
16sold the business in 2003; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19we congratulate Terry Moore on his retirement from the Randolph
20County Board of Commissioners, and wish him the best in all his
21future endeavors; and be it further
 
22    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
