HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, State Representative Monique D. Davis and the
3members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to honor
4the life and career of Frank Kevin "Tchallah" Reed, who passed
5away on February 26, 2014; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Frank Reed was born on September 16, 1954 in
7Omaha, Nebraska; and
 
8    WHEREAS, In 1988, Frank Reed joined the Chi-Lites as the
9successor to former lead singer Eugene Record; the Chi-Lites,
10founded in the late 1950s, had their heyday in the early 1970s
11with major hits, "Have You Seen Her" and "Oh Girl"; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Along with original band members Marshall
13Thompson and Robert "Squirrel" Lester, and the other lead
14vocalist, Anthony Watson, Frank Reed recorded the studio album
15"Help Wanted (Heroes Are In Short Supply)" in 1998; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Prior to joining the Chi-Lites, Frank Reed was one
17of the lead vocalists of "Michigan Avenue", a local Chicago
18band created by former Chi-Lites member, Clarence Johnson; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Frank Reed was the longest-performing member of
20the Chi-Lites behind original members, Marshall Thompson and

1Robert Lester; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
4we honor the life and career of Frank Kevin "Tchallah" Reed;
5and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Frank Reed in honor of his life and
8career.
