SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
ILCON Art. I, Sec. 22.1 new

    Proposes to amend the Bill of Rights Article of the Illinois Constitution. Provides that people have a right to hunt and fish as it is a valued part of our heritage and shall be forever preserved for the public good.

CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT

 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
5SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that there shall be submitted to the
6electors of the State for adoption or rejection at the general
7election next occurring at least 6 months after the adoption of
8this resolution a proposition to amend Article I by adding
9Section 22.1 as follows:

BILL OF RIGHTS

12    (ILCON Art. I, Sec. 22.1 new)
13SECTION 22.1. RIGHT TO HUNT AND FISH
14    The people have a right to hunt and fish as it is a valued
15part of our heritage and shall be forever preserved for the
16public good, subject only to the laws prescribed by the General
17Assembly and rules prescribed by the virtue of the authority of
18the General Assembly. Hunting and fishing shall be the
19preferred means of managing and controlling wildlife. This
20Section shall not be construed to limit the application of any
21provision of law relating to trespass or property rights.

1    This Constitutional Amendment takes effect upon being
2declared adopted in accordance with Section 7 of the Illinois
3Constitutional Amendment Act.
