August 2, 2013

To the Honorable Members of the Illinois House of Representatives,

98th General Assembly:

I hereby veto House Bill 986 from the 98th General Assembly.

My decision to veto this legislation reflects a technical, rather than substantive, disagreement. The language in this bill is duplicative of language in House Bill 2275, which I signed into law on May 3, 2013 and has since become Public Act 98-0008. Nevertheless, I would like to commend the sponsors of House Bill 986 for their work on achieving efficiencies in state government.

Therefore, pursuant to Article IV, Section 9(b) of the Illinois Constitution of 1970, I hereby return House Bill 986, entitled “AN ACT concerning aging.”, with the foregoing objection, vetoed in its entirety.

Sincerely,

Pat Quinn

GOVERNOR
