SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply
3saddened to learn of the death of Mervin Frerichs of Armstrong,
4who passed away on December 1, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mervin Frerichs was born on August 15, 1936, to
6John and Anna (Ackerman) Frerichs; he married Florence Siuts on
7June 19, 1955; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mervin Frerichs was a lifelong farmer and family
9man; he was a lifetime and active member of St. John Lutheran
10Church; he served on the church council and was a member of the
11choir and numerous committees; he was also a member of the
12Martin Luther Men's Choir; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Mervin Frerichs served 18 years as a school board
14member and president of the Armstrong High School Board and he
15was a bus driver for 25 years; he served on the Vermilion
16County Farm Bureau for 9 years and as a Pilot Township
17supervisor; he was a University of Illinois Assembly Hall usher
18for 25 years and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and UI fan;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Mervin Frerichs was preceded in death by his
21parents, John and Anna Frerichs; his stepmother, Louise

1(Osterbur); his brother, Herbert John Frerichs; and his
2step-brother, Robert Osterbur; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Mervin Frerichs is survived by his wife, Florence;
4his children, Cindy (Charles) Koonce, Kerry (Annette)
5Frerichs, Randy (Patricia) Frerichs, and Peggy (James)
6Vermillion; his grandchildren, Shane, Jennifer, Jeremy,
7Joshua, John, Katherine, Jordan, Acasia, Tyler, Kolton, and
8Kylee; his great-grandchildren, Jessica, James, Emma, Giselle,
9Gage, Abigail, Aleta, Evan, Ella, Emilia, and Lillian; his
10step-grandchildren, Jason and Lindsay; his
11step-great-grandchild, Aiden; his sisters, Ilene Ackerman,
12Marilyn Frerichs, and Beverly (Lester) Wolken; his brothers,
13Herbert (Lois) Frerichs and Lewis (Diana) Frerichs; and
14numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Mervin Frerichs, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
18family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Mervin Frerichs as an expression of
22our deepest sympathy.
