SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Louis Edward Whitsell of Pontoon Beach,
4who passed away on September 13, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born in Granite City on July 30, 1936; he
6lived in Pontoon Beach most of his life until he retired and
7moved in 1999 to a mini farm in Worden; and
 
8    WHEREAS, He graduated from Granite City High School in
91955; he served in United States Marine Corps Reserves from
101957 to 1962; he attended Southern Illinois University in
11Edwardsville and Lincoln Tech; he was a Tool and Die Maker for
1246 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, He was very active in politics and the Democratic
14party; he held elected office in many positions in Madison
15County, Nameoki Township, and Pontoon Beach; from 1968 to 1999
16he served in different capacities as a Supervisor, County Board
17Member, Clerk, Treasurer, Alderman, Comptroller, Highway
18Superintendent, Precinct Committeeman; he was a member of
19Masonic Lodge 877, the Lions Club, and the Township Officials
20of Illinois; and
 
21    WHEREAS, He was preceded in his death by his mother, Louise

1(Frazier) Whitsell; his father; Elmon Whitsell; his sisters,
2Edith Whitsell McClusky and Mary Lou (Whitsell) Smith; his
3brother, David Whitsell; and his grandchild, Chad Petrillo; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Louis Whitsell is survived by his wife, Dell
5(O'Brian) Whitsell; his daughters, Debra and Mercie Mendoza,
6Deanna (Whitsell) Spears, Cindy Stoner, Susan Sparks, and
7Judith and Lance Haynes; his sisters, Shirley (Whitsell) Sims,
8Sandy (Whitsell) Riffey, and Ginny (Whitsell) Bettis; his
9brother, Jimmy Whitsell; his grandchildren, Natalie
10(Zimmerman) Furniss, Jessica (Jones) Daniels, Samuel Stoner,
11Mallory Stoner, Molly Haynes, and Zackary Louis Sparks; and his
12great-grandchildren, Callie Daniels and Ava Daniels;
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
16his family and friends, the passing of Louis Whitsell; and be
17it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Louis Whitsell as a symbol of our
20sincere sympathy.
