HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to honor Illinois State University
4senior, Tim Glover, on his Redbirds' athletic career; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tim Glover began his college track and field
6career during the 2009-2010 season; he recorded 5 first-place
7finishes in the javelin as a freshman, finished 1st at the SIU
8Spring Classic in the javelin, finished 5th at the Sea Ray
9Relays in the javelin, and finished 1st in 3-straight meets in
10the javelin, including a career-best throw and a new school
11record at the MVC Championships for All-Valley honors; he
12qualified for the NCAA West Regional in the javelin where he
13finished 3rd, and he advanced to the NCAA Championships
14finishing 12th; he qualified for the 2010 USA Outdoor National
15Championships; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Tim Glover continued his list of impressive feats
17with the javelin during the 2010-2011 season; he won the 2011
18NCAA National Championship in the javelin, earned All-American
19honors, finished 1st in 4 meets, including the MVC Outdoor
20Championships for All-Valley honors, was named Most
21Outstanding Field Athlete at the MVC Outdoor Championships, and
22broke the MVC and all-time records in the javelin; he broke his
23career-best mark 3 times throughout the season; he achieved the

1top collegiate throw in the nation that year, was named
22010-2011 ISU Athlete of the Year, and qualified for the 2011
3USA National Outdoor Championship, where he finished as the top
4collegiate athlete and 6th overall; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tim Glover's athletic endeavors with the javelin
6during the 2011-2012 year consisted of winning his 2nd-straight
7NCAA Division I National Title, earning All-American honors in
8the process; he was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross
9Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Male Field Athlete of
10the Year; he was named the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Field
11Athlete of the Year; he improved his already standing Missouri
12Valley Conference and Illinois State records in the javelin,
13took gold at the North American, Central American, and
14Caribbean Under-23 Championships, qualified for the 2012 U.S.
15Olympic Track & Field Trials in Eugene, Oregon, and won his
163rd-straight Missouri Valley Conference title, earning Valley
17honors; he was named Most Outstanding Field Athlete of the 2012
18Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship,
19won the Tony Wilson Award at the Sea Relays for the Most
20Outstanding Male Field Athlete of the meet, and was named by
21the Missouri Valley Conference as the Athlete of the Week for
22April 10-17; and
 
23    WHEREAS, Tim Glover started his athletic career at
24University High School; he ranked first at the Pantagraph Honor

1Roll Meet in discus, recorded a career-best throw in the shot
2put, was a 3-time USA Youth Outdoor Track & Field Championships
3National Champion in the javelin, and was a member of a golf
4team that won 3 straight titles; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tim Glover is the son of Rob and Barb Glover and
6brother to Lindsey; he is majoring in industrial engineering at
7ISU; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we honor Illinois State University senior Tim Glover, on his
11impressive Redbird career with the javelin; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to Tim Glover as an expression of our respect and
14esteem.
