HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Kyle C.
4Matthews of Chicago, who passed away on October 30, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born on May 30, 1979 in Chicago to Kyle
6Smith and Dedra Matthews; and
 
7    WHEREAS, He grew up in Chicago and Oak Park; he attended
8Whittier Elementary School, Emerson Junior High, and graduated
9from Oak Park/River Forest High School, where he excelled in
10academics and was the star running back of the football team;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, He accepted Christ at an early age and was
13baptized under the leadership of Reverend Bertha Stokes; and
 
14    WHEREAS, He worked for the United States Postal Service for
15many years; and
 
16    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his grandfathers,
17Charles Matthews and Fred Smith; and his cousin, Michael
18McClain; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Kyle Matthews is survived by his daughters,

1Treviona (Lashon), Kayla (Kahlonii), and Jada (Amber); his
2mother, Dedra (Ulysses); his father, Kyle (Elaine); his
3grandmother, Nellie Matthews; his grandfather, Edward
4Phillips; his brothers, Frederick Matthews and Ja'Quory Smith;
5his sisters, Keisha White, Tanya Eiland, and Faysia MacArthur;
6his uncle, Bradley Keith Phillips; his great uncle, Donald L.
7Anthony; his special uncles, Dennis Nichol and Reginald
8"Akkeem" Berry; his aunt, Nijela Kimberly Phillips; his special
9aunts, Brenda Burris and Janice McClain; his nieces, Fhaysia
10and Madesyn; and a host of cousins and friends; therefore, be
11it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
15Kyle Matthews; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Kyle Matthews as a symbol of our
18sincere sympathy.
