HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to honor Dr. Sheila C. Ribordy for
4her lifetime of accomplishment; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Sheila Ribordy received her Ph.D. from the
6University of Kansas in clinical psychology; she began her
7professional career at DePaul University in 1975 as an
8assistant professor in the Department of Psychology; she has
9been on the faculty ever since; she also served as a
10supervising psychologist in the original DePaul Mental Health
11Center, now DePaul Family and Community Services, from 1975 to
12the present; she became director of DePaul Family and Community
13Services in 1996; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Dr. Sheila Ribordy is the author of countless
15published works; during her tenure at DFCS, she has been
16instrumental in the procurement of numerous grants for special
17projects and community services in Cabrini Green and Lathrop
18Homes; she was instrumental in the funding and establishment of
19the Urban Systems of Care program, as well as the establishment
20of two satellite offices in Lathrop Homes and Cabrini
21communities to provide outreach and support to families and
22active case management and linkage to families for mental
23health services from 1998 to 2004; she secured funding and

1established the Bridges Program to provide outreach and
2intensive community support for youth involved in the juvenile
3justice system from 1999 to the present; she established the
4Crossroads Program, a prevention service to provide groups,
5case management, and support to youth at risk of becoming
6involved in the juvenile justice system from 2004 to 2008; she
7was involved in NIAC for many years and served as the
8organization's President; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dr. Sheila Ribordy has been recognized by numerous
10groups for her work at DFCS; she was instrumental in bringing
11the Harry V. McNeill Memorial Award to DFCS, as well as the
12American Psychological Association and SCRA 2005 Outstanding
13Excellence award for bringing innovative community mental
14health to the Cabrini and Lathrop areas; in 2005, she received
15the Cortelyou-Lowery Award for Excellence and the
16Distinguished DePaul University Faculty designation from the
17university's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; in 2010, she
18received her 35th Service Award from the university; she has
19also received numerous community service awards; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Dr. Sheila Ribordy serves as a model of hard work,
21integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of
22Illinois; therefore, be it
 
23    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2we honor Dr. Sheila C. Ribordy for her many accomplishments and
3wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and be
4it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to Dr. Sheila Ribordy as a symbol of our esteem and
7respect.
