1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Fire Protection Training Act is
5amended by changing Section 1 as follows:
 
6    (50 ILCS 740/1)  (from Ch. 85, par. 531)
7    Sec. 1. Legislative Declaration. It is declared as a a
8matter of legislative determination that in order to promote
9and protect the health, safety and welfare of the public, it is
10necessary and in the public interest to provide for the
11encouraging and aiding of municipalities, counties and other
12local governmental agencies of this State in their efforts to
13raise the level of local fire protection by upgrading and
14maintaining a high level of training for fire protection
15personnel. It is declared to be the responsibility of the
16Office of the State Fire Marshal to encourage the participation
17of local governmental units in the programs established by the
18Office and to aid in the establishment of adequate training
19facilities.
