 Appropriates $29,000,000 to the Department of Public Health from the Tobacco Settlement Recovery Fund for various purposes. Effective July 1, 2011.

    AN ACT concerning appropriations.

 

        Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

 

    Section 5. The sum of $29,000,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated from the Tobacco Settlement Recovery Fund to the Department of Public Health for the purposes specified at the costs set forth below:

  For local health departments with a plan

    in accordance with the Centers for Disease

    Control and Prevention’s Best Practices

    for Comprehensive Tobacco Control Programs.. 8,000,000

  For non-profit organizations that demonstrate

    an ability to mobilize community residents

    in accordance with the Centers for Disease

    Control and Prevention’s Best Practices

    for Comprehensive Tobacco Control Programs... 7,000,000

  For a statewide media campaign utilizing the

    Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s

    Media Resource Center and other evidence-based

    Programs.................................... 6,000,000

  For the Illinois Coalition Against Tobacco to

    provide technical assistance to local health

    departments and community grantees........... 1,000,000

  For support of a statewide tobacco cessation

    toll free quit line.......................... 3,000,000

  For an outside evaluator....................... 2,000,000

  For implementation and enforcement of the

    Smoke Free Illinois Act...................... 2,000,000

 

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 2011.
