SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Thomas G. Shaughnessy of Berwyn; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Thomas Shaughnessy served his country with pride
5and distinction as a member of the United States Navy on the
6USS Yorktown during World War II; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Thomas Shaughnessy served as the Mayor of the City
8of Berwyn from 1993 to 2005; prior to his service as Mayor, he
9served as Berwyn's city clerk for 12 years; and
 
10    WHEREAS, During his tenure as Mayor, Thomas Shaughnessy was
11instrumental in helping to create what is now the Berwyn Public
12Library; the building now carries his name; he was also
13instrumental in getting the city's new police department built;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Thomas Shaughnessy was preceded in death by his
16parents, Thomas Shaughnessy and Margaret (William) Quirk; his
17aunts, Martha Kadish and Blanche Phillips; and his
18brother-in-law, Jack Thomas; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Thomas Shaughnessy was the beloved husband of
20Beverly Ann, nee Thomas; the loving father of Thomas Gregory

1Jr. (Kathy) and Patricia Lynn (Mark) Kennedy; the cherished
2grandfather of Bryan, Kelly (Jason) Sheehan, Courtney (Jon)
3Kotloski, Daniel, Ashley Kennedy, Leigha Kennedy, and Jack
4Kennedy; the great-grandfather of Jack, Patrick Sheehan, James
5Sheehan, Kate Sheehan, Matthew Kotloski, and Mae Kotloski; the
6dear brother-in-law of Lorraine Zellig and Marilyn Thomas; and
7the fond uncle of Laura Saylor, Kimberly Saka, and Kerri
8Cardamone; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11his family and friends, the passing of Thomas G. Shaughnessy;
12and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Thomas Shaughnessy as an expression
15of our sympathy.
