SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Marvel J. LeVora of Carlinville, who
4passed away on November 26, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marvel J. LeVora was born on April 1, 1925 in
6Carlinville, the son of Jacob Matthew and Lela Ann (Morehead)
7LeVora; he married Norma Griffiths in Little Rock, Arkansas on
8February 14, 1950; and
 
9    WHEREAS, He joined the Army and served during World War II;
10he started his driving career as a self-employed truck driver
11hauling livestock and commodities; he later was offered a job
12driving for Starr Brothers Inc. in Carlinville and was employed
13until 1975, when he accepted a job with Prairie Farms Dairy,
14where he worked as a general laborer until his retirement in
151985; and
 
16    WHEREAS, He was known for his love of fishing and enjoyed
17delivering cars to various dealerships in Illinois and
18surrounding states after retirement; he was a member of Saints
19Mary and Joseph Catholic Church and the Guy Baird American
20Legion Post #554; he had a past membership in the Carlinville
21Elk's Lodge #1412; and he served as the past President of the
22Macoupin Club; and

1    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife;
2and his granddaughter, Christy Lynne LeVora; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Marvel LeVore is survived by his sons, Thomas A.
4LeVora (Peggy), Gerald W. "Jerry" LeVora Sr. (Angie), and John
5M. LeVora (Susan A.); his daughter, Kelley Philpott; his 5
6grandchildren; his 5 great-grandchildren; and his sisters,
7Eileen Ryan and Marie Burke of Carlinville; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10his family and friends, the passing of Marvel LeVora; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Marvel LeVora as a symbol of our
14sincere sympathy.
