SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Maureen Kinney Maher, who passed away on
4December 10, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Maureen Maher was born on November 19, 1941, in
6Springfield; she was the daughter of Michael and Irma (Rissi)
7Kinney; she married Lawrence B. Maher on November 24, 1962, at
8St. Mary's Church in Alton; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Maureen Maher was employed as a teacher at St.
10Mary's School in Alton; she then worked as the intake director
11at Specialized Services in Godfrey until she retired in 1994 to
12be a full-time grandmother; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Maureen Maher was an active member of every parish
14to which she belonged, most recently St. Stephen's in Flora,
15where she served as a dedicated member of the St. Ann's Altar
16Society; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Maureen Maher loved spending time with her family
18and friends, gardening, antiquing, and bargain shopping; she
19especially enjoyed helping to organize reunions of the 1959
20graduating class of Marquette High School; and

1    WHEREAS, Maureen Maher was preceded in death by her parents
2and her daughter; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Maureen Maher is survived by her husband; her
4sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Art Liyeos; her children
5and their spouses, Amy and Roger Smith, Tim and Trish Maher,
6and Erin and Samuel Pierce; her grandchildren, Clare, Maddie,
7Liam, Grace, Annie, and Mary Eileen Maher, and Benjamin, Emma,
8Anna, Ellie, Owen, and Irma Pierce; and her numerous
9sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
13her family and friends, the passing of Maureen Kinney Maher;
14and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Maureen Maher as an expression of
17our sympathy.
