SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Matthew D. Turcol, Mayor of Benld, who
4passed away on December 17, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born on November 3, 1934 in Benld; he
6married Marjorie Grace Milcic on September 4, 1954; he was a
7retired IRS agent for the federal government and a veteran of
8the United States Air Force Reserves; and
 
9    WHEREAS, He served as Mayor of Benld from April 1997 to the
10time of his passing; he served as Alderman for Benld from 1995
11until 1997; he was a School Board Member for Community Unit
12School District No. 7 from 1993 to the time of his passing; he
13also served for 17 years prior to 1993 on the school board; and
 
14    WHEREAS, He was Secretary/Treasurer for the Croation
15Fraternal Union Lodge 217 of Benld; the President of Trustees
16for the Croation Fraternal Union of America based in
17Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; a member of the OWLS; a member of the
18American Legion of Mt. Olive; a member of the advisory board of
19Heritage Manor in Gillespie and he called Bingo at Heritage
20Manor every month; he was a member of the Build Benld Committee
21and St. Joseph's Church in Benld; and

1    WHEREAS, He enjoyed playing bocce ball, bowling, and
2watching his grandchildren play sports; and
 
3    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Louis
4Turcol; his mother, Virginia (Contratto) Turcol; and his wife,
5Marjorie Grace (Milcic) Turcol; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Matthew Turcol is survived by his daughter, Susan
7(Dennis) Tiburzi; his brother, Bob (Mary Lou) Turcol; and his
8grandchildren, Dennis Tiburzi, Dyllan Tiburzi, and Derrek
9Tiburzi; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12his family, friends, and community, the passing of Mayor
13Matthew Turcol; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Matthew Turcol as a symbol of our
16sincere sympathy.
