SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of United States Marine Corps Staff Sergeant
4Jordan B. Emrick of Hoyleton, who was killed in action in
5Afghanistan on November 5, 2010; and
 
6    WHEREAS, SSgt. Jordan Emrick was born on December 19, 1983,
7in Centralia; his parents are Terry and Doris (Seeger) Emrick;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, SSgt. Jordan Emrick graduated from Nashville High
10School in 2002; he attended Trinity Lutheran Church and was an
11avid skydiver and enjoyed sailing; and
 
12    WHEREAS, SSgt. Jordan Emrick served in the United States
13Marine Corps with the 1st Explosives Ordinance Disposal
14Company, a unit based in Camp Pendleton, California, that is
15currently serving in Afghanistan; and
 
16    WHEREAS, SSgt. Jordan Emrick was a highly decorated Marine
17who enlisted shortly after the September 11th attacks; he had
18previously served one deployment in the Persian Gulf and two
19deployments in Iraq; and
 
20    WHEREAS, SSgt. Jordan Emrick is survived by his parents,

1Terry and Doris, his brother; Brandon (Kimberly) Emrick; his
2sisters, Christi (Ryan) Payne and Brittany (Anthony)
3Aussieker; his grandmother; Edith Seeger; and his many aunts,
4uncles, nieces, and nephews; and
 
5    WHEREAS, SSgt. Jordan Emrick will be remembered by all who
6knew and loved him for his selfless dedication to his Marine
7brethren by volunteering for ordinance disposal duty; and
 
8    WHEREAS, SSgt. Jordan Emrick's patriotism and courage will
9be remembered fondly by his loving family, his fellow soldiers,
10and the citizens of our grateful nation; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
13his family and friends, the passing of United States Marine
14Corps Staff Sergeant Jordan B. Emrick; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of SSgt. Jordan Emrick as an expression
17of our sympathy.
