SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Thomas M. "T.O." Opitz of Grayslake, who
4passed away on October 2, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Thomas Opitz was born on January 8, 1943 in
6Waukegan and was always proud that he and Elvis were born on
7the same day; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Tom retired from NSSD, Waukegan Plant, in February
9of 2010 and had plans of playing out the rest of his life on the
10golf course; Tom was a free spirited man who never hesitated to
11say "good morning" with a smile to friends, neighbors, and even
12strangers who passed his way; and
 
13    WHEREAS, He was an avid fan of the Cubs, the Bears, and the
14Bulls, and a bowler who started out with the infamous Roy's
15Boys of Bertrand Lanes; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Thomas Opitz was preceded in death by by his
17parents, Michael and Virginia (Zick) Opitz; his uncles, John,
18Albert, Joseph, and George Opitz; his aunts, Catherine and
19Elizabeth; and his "Bro", Bobby Pratt; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Thomas Opitz is survived by his loving wife,

1Barbara (Pratt); his son, Steven (Kathleen); his
2granddaughters, Toni and Cydney; his favorite mother-in-law,
3Janet Pratt; his Opitz cousins, Debbie, Sandy, Carol, Kenny,
4Joyce, and Lloyd and their families; his Aunt Lorraine; his
5in-laws, Gail, Bill, David, and Stacey and their families; and
6many other cousins and friends; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
9his family and friends, the passing of Thomas Opitz; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Thomas Opitz as a symbol of our
13sincere sympathy.
