SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Curtis Christian of Waukegan, who passed
4away on September 10, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Curtis Christian was born on April 26, 1927 in
6Waukegan to Roy Christian and Adeline Aikens; he was a lifelong
7Waukegan resident, graduated from Waukegan Township High
8School, and attended the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama; and
 
9    WHEREAS, He was honorably discharged from the United States
10Army after combat in Korea; he came home to begin work for
11American Motors in Kenosha; during this time he met and married
12his beloved and devoted wife, Ann, and to this union two
13children were born; and
 
14    WHEREAS, He was an accomplished saxophonist and avid
15fisherman and found his true calling with the Waukegan Police
16Department; he moved up the ranks as a Youth Officer,
17Detective, Sergeant, and Lieutenant, retiring as a Captain
18after 31 years; he was a member in good standing with the
19Little Fort Elks Lodge, the American Legion, and the Fraternal
20Order of Police, and he was a prior member of the National
21Organization of Black Law Enforcement, or NOBLE; and

1    WHEREAS, Curtis Christian was preceded in death by his
2sister, Evelyn Smith; and his stepfather, Benjamin Aikens; and
 
3    WHEREAS, He will be forever remembered by his loving wife,
4Ann; his daughter, Kimberle; his son, Kyle; his granddaughter,
5Teonna Hall; his grandson, Jordan Christian; his special niece,
6Barbara Foster and her husband, Edward; his special nephew,
7Dale Turner and his wife, Debra; his special cousin, Sherman
8McKenzie and his wife, Betty; his special friends, Walter and
9Loretta Henton; his special family member, Ramona Hodge; and a
10host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins,
11and friends; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14his family and friends, the passing of Curtis Christian; and be
15it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Curtis Christian as a symbol of our
18sincere sympathy.
