SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Felix Mazur, who passed away on August
421, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Felix Mazur was born on April 17, 1939, in
6Stamford, Connecticut; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Felix Mazur served in the United States Navy as an
8officer and a gunner during the Vietnam War; he was an advocate
9throughout his life for the equitable administration of
10veterans' benefits and was honored by several professional
11associations for his work; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Felix Mazur served as Vice Chairman on the Amateur
13Athletic Union Volleyball Executive Committee and was the
14former commissioner of Region 7 (Great Lakes) in the USA
15Volleyball Association; the AAU recently started the annual
16Phil Mazur Award in recognition of truly dedicated volleyball
17officials; he also volunteered for Midwest Young Artists, where
18he helped coordinate events and served as a mentor for the
19young musicians; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Felix Mazur was preceded in death by his parents,
21Felix and Agnus, and his brother, Charles; and

1    WHEREAS, Felix Mazur is survived by his brother, Richard;
2his sisters, Donna and Valerie; and his children, Paul, Monica,
3and Rebecca; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
6his family and friends, the passing of Felix Mazur; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Felix Mazur as an expression of our
10sympathy.
