SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert J. "Bob" Johnson of Alton, who
4passed away on August 19, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born on December 3, 1935, in St. Louis, the
6son of Robert W. & Esther (Mook) Johnson; he married Mary Lou
7McClintock on June 25, 1955, at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic
8Church in Alton; and
 
9    WHEREAS, He owned and operated Johnson's Corner and was a
10co-owner of Runway Lounge and also a member of the Madison
11County Tavern Owners Association; he was a member of Saints
12Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Alton, the Knights of Columbus
13(4th degree) in Alton, the Alton Eagles Lodge 254, the Alton
14Wood River Sportsman's Club, and the Optimist Board; he was a
15board member of Reliance Bank, the Crisis Food Center, and a
16Life Master in Bridge; he was an avid lover of Las Vegas and
17the Argosy casino; and he was a board member of Senior Services
18Plus and the Foster Grandparents Program; and
 
19    WHEREAS, He enjoyed spending time with his family and
20friends; and
 
21    WHEREAS, In addition to his parents, he was also preceded

1in death by one grandson, Gregory Peipert; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Robert Johnson is survived by his wife Mary Lou
3Johnson; his five daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne and Chris
4Peipert, Jacqueline and Mark Cain, Judy and Chris Durr, Jane
5and Jim Strebel, and Julie and Ethan Basler; his son and
6daughter-in-law, Jimmie and Cathy Johnson; his fourteen
7grandchildren, Wendie Peipert, Nick Cain and his wife, Kendall,
8Tony Cain and his wife, Katie, David Strebel and his wife, Jen,
9Abbie Hodge and her husband, Dustin, Matt Cain, Jason Peipert,
10Monica Hardin and her husband, Jeff, Savanna Durr, Jett Durr,
11Posy Durr, Alex Basler, Nash Johnson, and Noah Johnson; his
12five great grandchildren, Audrey and Caroline Cain, Evan
13Dugger, Max Strebel, and Austin Hodge; and his sister, Dorothy
14Kleinschnittger; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
17his family and friends, the passing of Robert Johnson; and be
18it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Robert Johnson as a symbol of our
21sincere sympathy.
