SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of John L. Tolbert of Alton, who passed away
4 on May 7, 2010; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born January 1, 1935, in Alton, the son of
6 the late Earl and Carrie (Carter) Tolbert; he was united in
7 holy matrimony to the former Alice L. Skinner on March 13,
8 1953, in Alton; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Mr. Tolbert was a veteran of the United States Air
10 Force, serving four years, and was honorably discharged; he was
11 a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton, and a student
12 of the Alton School District; he was employed with McDonnell
13 Douglas Corporation (Boeing) for 42 years; and
 
14     WHEREAS, In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
15 death by his daughter, Angela Tolbert; his loving aunt, Susie
16 Singleton; and his brothers, James, Earl, Eugene, Alfred, Leroy
17 Tolbert, and Andy Dear; and
 
18     WHEREAS, John Tolbert is survived by his wife, Alice; his
19 children, Cathy Tolbert, Sharon (Paul) Willis, John Tolbert
20 Jr., Richard Tolbert, Ronald (Becky) Tolbert, and Anthony and
21 Lori Ann Tolbert; his grandchildren; his great-grandchildren;

1 his two sisters, Lois (William) Quinn and Shirley Cole; his two
2 brothers, Jerry and Edward Dear; his brothers-in-law, Fred
3 (Karen) Skinner and the Reverend Eli Collier; his
4 sister-in-law, Mary McCoy; and a host of nieces, nephews, and
5 friends; therefore, be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
7 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
8 his family and friends, the passing of John Tolbert; and be it
9 further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the family of John Tolbert as a symbol of our
12 sincere sympathy.
