SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Joseph C. Bertino Sr. of Joliet, who
4 passed away on April 1, 2010; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Joseph Bertino Sr. was born in and was a lifelong
6 resident of Joliet; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Joseph Bertino Sr. served his country with pride
8 and distinction as a member of the United States Marine Corps
9 and was a veteran of the Korean War; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Joseph Bertino Sr. was the owner of Bertino's Auto
11 Service for 53 years; Bertino's was known as the gathering
12 place for his friends and customers; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Joseph Bertino Sr. was a member of the St. Paul
14 the Apostle Church in Joliet; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Joseph Bertino Sr. enjoyed watching sports,
16 relaxing in the sun, taking vacations, playing golf, and
17 spending time with family and friends; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Joseph Bertino Sr. was preceded in death by his
19 parents, Peter and Jennie (Vernizzi) Bertino; his brothers,

1 George and Robert Bertino; and his sisters, Betty Kren and
2 Edith Irwin; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Joseph Bertino Sr. is survived by his loving and
4 devoted wife of 48 years, Gerri (Scaccia) Bertino; his
5 children, Joseph Jr. (Donna) Bertino, Paul (Jennifer) Bertino,
6 Beth (Matt) Shanahan, Jennifer (Mike) Tarrant, Michael (Elena)
7 Bertino, Daniel (Nicole DelaGarza) Bertino, and Peter Bertino;
8 his grandchildren, Brandon, Nathan, Christian, Jessica,
9 Dominic, Nina, Mia, Kara, Amelia, Matthew, Elise, Zackry,
10 Erica, Angelina, and Gianfranco; his brothers, Ray (Delores)
11 Bertino, Tom (Beverly) Bertino, and Larry (Ruth) Bertino; his
12 sister, Mary Ann (Jim) Crater; and his many nieces, nephews,
13 and good friends; therefore, be it
 
14     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
15 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
16 his family and friends, the passing of Joseph C. Bertino Sr.;
17 and be it further
 
18     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to the family of Joseph Bertino Sr. as an expression
20 of our sympathy.
