SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Genevieve Odom of Benton, who passed away
4 on March 17, 2010; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Genevieve Odom was born on September 5, 1912, in
6 Rend City; she was the daughter of William Ellsworth Browning
7 and Grace (Burns) Browning; she married Raymond Odom on
8 December 6, 1930; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Genevieve Odom was a homemaker; she also worked as
10 a cook at the Benton Country Club for over 40 years; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Genevieve Odom was a member of the Mt. Zion
12 Missionary Baptist Church in Benton; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Genevieve Odom enjoyed making quilts, working in
14 the yard, and gardening; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Genevieve Odom was preceded in death by her
16 parents; her husband; her daughter, Marilyn Grace Keller; her
17 brother, Martin Browning; and her sister, Vella Barnfield; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Genevieve Odom is survived by her children, Larry
19 Odom and wife, Nancy, Danny Odom, and David Odom and wife,

1 Carolyn; her grandchildren, Kathy Pollack and husband, Mike,
2 Cindy Jenkins and husband, Bill, Alan Odom and wife, Lisa,
3 Julie Swigonski and Logan, Melissa Moore and husband, Keith,
4 Mechele Whaley, Daniel Odom Jr., Matt Odom, Shawn Craig and
5 wife, Brook, and Shalyn Sargeant and husband, Chris; her
6 great-grandchildren, Brooke, Brittnie, Christopher, Maren,
7 Derik, Aaron, Kristin, Ashley, Tristan, Morgan, Peyton, Kyle,
8 Cory, Lauren, Hailey, Joey, Gabe, and Maddox; her great
9 great-grandchildren, Maggie Mae and Jess; her brother, Kenneth
10 Browning and wife, Virginia; her sister, Alma Jane Rippel; her
11 loving sister-in-law, Genevieve Browning; and her several
12 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
15 her family and friends, the passing of Genevieve Odom; and be
16 it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the family of Genevieve Odom as an expression of
19 our sympathy.
