SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Victoria Jane McCord of Peoria, who
4 passed away on March 3, 2010; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Victoria McCord was born on June 17, 1921, in
6 Peoria; her parents were Victor P. and Viola Michel; she
7 married Robert A. McCord on November 29, 1942, in Peoria; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Victoria McCord graduated from Peoria High School
9 in 1939; she then attended Bradley University; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Victoria McCord was a devoted volunteer with the
11 Junior League of Peoria, the Methodist Service League, and the
12 Family House; she was also a member of Chapter GS of PEO since
13 1948; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Victoria McCord was the recipient of the Junior
15 League of Peoria Harriet Vance Parkhurst Sustainer of the Year
16 Award in 2003; she and her husband also received the Presidents
17 Award from Bradley University in 1995; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Victoria McCord served on the board of directors
19 of Illinois Mutual from 1972 through 2007; and

1     WHEREAS, Victoria McCord also was preceded in death by her
2 husband; her parents; and her sister, Valerie Jansen; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Victoria McCord is survived by her son, Michel
4 (Kay) McCord; her daughters, Robin (Tom) Groom and Melissa
5 (Jim) Metternich; her grandchildren, Molly (Corey) Martin,
6 Scott (Heather) McCord, Katie (Tom) Jenkins, Melanie (Michael)
7 Behling, Mitzi McCord, Jason (Alana) Groom, Mindy (Adam)
8 Voyles, and Tory (Patrick) Jennetten; and her
9 great-grandchildren, Connor Martin, Michel Martin, Tyler
10 Martin, Emma Kay Martin, Meyer McCord, Hunter Groom, Anika
11 Groom, Carly Voyles, Cole Voyles, and Jackson Voyles;
12 therefore, be it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
15 her family and friends, the passing of Victoria Jane McCord;
16 and be it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the family of Victoria McCord as an expression of
19 our sympathy.
