SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Katherine Beard of Waukegan, who passed
4 away on February 12, 2010; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Katherine Beard was born July 2, 1927 in
6 Clarksdale, Mississippi; upon her husband's retirement, she
7 settled in Lake County after moving from Fort Sheridan and
8 North Chicago; she retired from the Veterans Hospital in North
9 Chicago as a medical supply clerk; and
 
10     WHEREAS, She was a faithful and active member of Shiloh
11 Baptist church, where she served as the President of the
12 Mother's Board and was a member of the Rose Caldwell Circle;
13 and
 
14     WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie
15 Beard Sr.; her daughter, Gwendolyn Linder; and her brother,
16 Samuel Tyler Sr.; and
 
17     WHEREAS, She leaves to mourn and celebrate her life her
18 four daughters, Cheryl Jackson, Patricia Beard, Ouida Beard,
19 and Kathie Warner; her three sons, Adrian G. Beard (Anna),
20 Johnnie Beard, and Kenneth Beard (Jenay); her son-in-law, Otis
21 Linder Sr.; her four beloved stepchildren, Eddie Beard

1 (Pauline), Johnnie Beard, and Essie Washington (Mack); her
2 cousins, Derotha Brown, Willie Johnson, Woodrow Campbell
3 (Sheila), Ava Hugger, Darlene Campbell, Patricia Campbell, and
4 Lynette Burnett; her nieces, Irma Woods, Katherine Scott
5 (Fred), Marilyn Cantrell (Ron), Sherill Johnson (Ernie),
6 Beverly Harding, and Valerie Brown; her nephews, Samuel Tyler
7 Jr. and Kelvin Tyler; her 21 grandchildren and 19
8 great-grandchildren; her other friends and relatives; her
9 Shiloh Baptist Church family; and her special friends, Mr.
10 Henry Green and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Petty; therefore, be it
 
11     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
12 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
13 her family and friends, the passing of Katherine Beard; and be
14 it further
 
15     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16 presented to the family of Katherine Beard as a symbol of our
17 sincere sympathy.
