SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Benita L. Carr, who passed away on
4 February 7, 2010; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Benita Carr was born on January 10, 1956, in
6 Chicago; her parents were Benjamin and Lula Herrion; she
7 married James Carr on September 9, 1989; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Benita Carr accepted Christ at an early age at the
9 Hyde Park A.M.E. Church; in 1977, she joined the Progressive
10 Community Church under the leadership of Pastor B. Herbert
11 Martin, Sr., where she served as a faithful choir member until
12 her passing; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Benita Carr graduated from DuSable High School in
14 1973; she earned her bachelor's degree from Bradley University
15 in 1978; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Benita Carr was an employee of Ameritech for 25
17 years; she was employed at Rush Presbyterian Hospital for over
18 5 years at the time of her passing; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Benita Carr is survived by her loving husband of
20 20 years, James; her sisters, Valerie Terrell (Larry),

1 Charletha Herrion, and Cheryl Sharpe (Sam); her brother,
2 Charles Herrion (Stephanie); her god-sisters, Lela Hamb and
3 Reta Burpo; and her many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and
4 friends; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Benita Carr and her husband spiritually,
6 physically, emotionally, and financially played a major role in
7 the lives of many children, especially Yakita, DeJah, DeShaun,
8 and DeNika; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Benita Carr will be remembered by all who knew and
10 loved her as a loving woman who was always willing to help
11 people and could always anticipate their needs; therefore, be
12 it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
15 her family and friends, the passing of Benita L. Carr; and be
16 it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the family of Benita Carr as an expression of our
19 sympathy.
