SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Arthur W. Hustis of Marseilles, who
4 passed away on September 13, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Arthur Hustis was born on July 23, 1929, in Cold
6 Spring, New York; his parents were Roger and Helen Gravel
7 Hustis; he married JoAnn Laatz on September 4, 1954; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Arthur Hustis served his country with pride and
9 distinction as a member of the U.S. Army Signal Corps during
10 the Korean Conflict, having served with the occupation forces
11 in Germany; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Arthur Hustis retired from the former Nabisco
13 Company in Marseilles after many years of service as a printing
14 press operator; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Arthur Hustis was a member of the First
16 Congregational-United Church of Christ in Ottawa, where he
17 served 2 separate terms as moderator; he was a member of the
18 Marseilles Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5506 and a past master
19 and 50-year member of Marseilles Masonic Lodge 417, A.F. &
20 A.M.; he was a member and past patron of the former Ramona
21 Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star of Marseilles; he was

1 also a member of the Bloomington Consistory, the Mohammed
2 Temple in Peoria, the Starved Rock Civil War Round Table of
3 Ottawa, and the Mendota Clown Funsters; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Arthur Hustis was the great-great-grandson of
5 Union Major General G. Kimble Warren, the hero of the Battle of
6 Little Round Top at the Battle of Gettysburg during the Civil
7 War; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Arthur Hustis was preceded in death by his
9 parents; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Arthur Hustis is survived by his wife, JoAnn
11 Hustis; his son, Roger E. Hustis; his daughter, Adele Anne
12 Hustis; and his brothers, William A.R. (Sherry) Hustis and
13 Harvey H. (Hilda) Hustis; therefore, be it
 
14     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
15 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
16 his family and friends, the passing of Arthur W. Hustis; and be
17 it further
 
18     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to the family of Arthur Hustis as an expression of
20 our sympathy.
