SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Raymond Henry "Bud" Galloway of Alton,
4 who passed away on January 7, 2010; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born January 14, 1938, in St. Louis, the
6 son of Raymond L. "Nip" and Verona (Bergen) Galloway; he
7 married Janet Jay M. (Mearsch) Galloway on June 13, 1964, at
8 St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Alton; and
 
9     WHEREAS, He was with the Alton Police Department for 25
10 years, retiring as a detective sergeant in 1986; he then became
11 a chief deputy with the Madison County Sheriff Department from
12 1986 until retiring in 2000; and
 
13     WHEREAS, He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in
14 Alton, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge 254, Greater St.
15 Louis Major Case Squad for over 30 years, and received the
16 first annual Law Enforcement Award on December 18, 1973; he
17 enjoyed fishing, golfing, working part time at Rolling Hills
18 Golf Course in Godfrey, and spending time with family, friends,
19 and especially his grandchildren; and
 
20     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents and his
21 sister, Joan Delaney; and

1     WHEREAS, Raymond "Bud" Galloway is survived by his wife,
2 Janet; his two daughters and a son-in-law, Tracy Galloway and
3 Kristen and Bob Barnhart; his grandchildren, Abbi and Alex
4 Barnhart; his sister, Pat Rodgers; his brother-in-law, Jack
5 Delaney; and his sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law,
6 Shirley and Guido Tovo, Paul Mearsch, and Gloria Mearsch;
7 therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10 his family, friends, and a grateful community, the passing of
11 Raymond Galloway; and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of Raymond Galloway as a symbol of our
14 sincere sympathy.
