SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Leonard A. Karuzis Sr. of Westville, who
4 passed away on December 24, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Leonard Karuzis Sr. was born on September 4, 1934,
6 in Westville; he was the son of Andrew and Julia (Galius)
7 Karushis; he married Ruth Coan on June 16, 1956, at Sts. Peter
8 and Paul Catholic Church in Westville; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Leonard Karuzis Sr. was employed at General Motors
10 for 3 years; he served in the United States Air Force for 4
11 years before starting a 38-year career at HeatCraft; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Leonard Karuzis Sr. was a member of St. Mary's
13 Catholic Church, where he served as an usher and member of the
14 St. Mary's Rosary Group; he also served as a Democratic
15 committeeman in the Georgetown 5th Precinct; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Leonard Karuzis Sr. enjoyed painting shirts for
17 the kids during the Christmas season; he was also an avid Cubs,
18 Notre Dame, and Bears fan and enjoyed working in his vegetable
19 garden every year; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Leonard Karuzis Sr. was preceded in death by his

1 parents; his daughter, Barbara Karuzis; and his sister, Sylvia
2 Nagrodski; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Leonard Karuzis Sr. is survived by his wife; his
4 sons, Michael (Tina) Karuzis and Lenny (Lisa) Karuzis; his
5 daughters, Margaret Karuzis, Rose Karuzis, and Ruthie (Mike)
6 Crawford; his 14 grandchildren and 4
7 great-great-grandchildren; his brother, Andrew (Joyce)
8 Karushis; and his sisters, Alberta (Dean) Blakeney, Christine
9 Karushis, and Marianne Moreman; therefore, be it
 
10     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
11 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12 his family and friends, the passing of Leonard A. Karuzis Sr.;
13 and be it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to the family of Leonard Karuzis Sr. as an expression
16 of our sympathy.
