SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Carole Diane Driscoll of Houston, Texas,
4 who passed away on November 26, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She was born on November 26, 1941; she grew up in
6 Houston and graduated from Reagan High School; she married in
7 1965 and had three sons, Jim Perdue, Jr., Joe Perdue, and Jeff
8 Perdue; she then returned to school, earning her degree from
9 the University of Houston, followed by a Masters in Social
10 Work; and
 
11     WHEREAS, She worked at DePelchin and MHMRA for the last 18
12 years, and retired in July; she was a founding board member of
13 Children at Risk, a child advocacy group who honored her with
14 their Twentieth Year Accolades Award in October; she was active
15 in the Emergency Aid Coalition, delivering food and services to
16 the needy; and
 
17     WHEREAS, She served her faith and her church, St. Paul's
18 United Methodist Church; she abhorred war and believed
19 humankind was put on earth to learn love; as an active member
20 of her church for over 45 years, she taught Sunday School and
21 the Confirmation Class, helped lead youth and adult Mission
22 trips, served as the Church Administrative Board Chair, and

1 Chair of the Wesley Foundation Board; she preached the Sunday
2 sermon as lay leader and was an active Stephen Minister for the
3 past 15 years; and
 
4     WHEREAS, She married Vic Driscoll on November 9, 1996 and
5 gained two loving daughters, Diane and Elizabeth; and
 
6     WHEREAS, She leaves six grandsons and two granddaughters
7 whom she adored, doted over, and filled with love and energy at
8 every chance; her husband, Vic Driscoll; her daughter, Diane
9 Hurtado, her husband, Danny, and their daughter, Sylvia; her
10 daughter, Elizabeth Rainwater, her husband, Ryan, and their
11 three sons, Reid, Dylan, and Nicolas; her son, Jim M. Perdue,
12 Jr., his wife Nicole, and their three sons William, John, and
13 Charles; her son, Joe Perdue, his wife, Kelly, and their
14 daughter, Samantha; and her son, Jeff Perdue; her close friends
15 beyond counting; her co-workers; her co-teachers; her mentees;
16 her Book Club; her Supper Club; her Church Fellows; her world
17 travel companions; her close compatriots of years; the Pearls,
18 her girlfriends for over five decades; her legacy of patients
19 and their families; and her students; therefore, be it
 
20     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
21 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
22 her family and friends, the passing of Carole Driscoll; and be
23 it further

1     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of Carole Driscoll as a symbol of our
3 sincere sympathy.
