SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of United States Army Private First Class E3
4 Devin Michel of Colorado Springs, Colorado, formerly of
5 Stockton, who was killed in the line of duty while serving in
6 the Zhari District, Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, on October
7 24, 2009; and
 
8     WHEREAS, He was born on August 3, 1990, the son of Terry
9 and Rebecca (Broshous) Michel; he was a 2008 graduate of
10 Stockton High School, where he played football, basketball,
11 baseball, and was a member of the band; and
 
12     WHEREAS, After graduation he enlisted in the United States
13 Army; he began basic training on June 14, 2008, stationed in
14 Fort Benning, Georgia; after basic he was stationed in Fort
15 Carson, Colorado, in the 4th Infantry; and
 
16     WHEREAS, On October 3, 2008, he and Anika Entmeier were
17 married; on May 30, 2009, he was deployed on his first tour of
18 duty; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Devin enjoyed playing sports, his dog, Jade, and
20 playing drums; and

1     WHEREAS, Private First Class Devin Michel is survived by
2 his wife, Anika (Entmeier) Michel; his parents, Terry and
3 Rebecca Michel; his sisters, Holly and Catey Michel; his
4 grandparents, Elmer and Lois Miller and Rod and Kathryn
5 Broshous; and his great-grandmother, Winnifred (Harold
6 Gallagher) Luke; therefore, be it
 
7     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
9 his family, friends, and a grateful nation, the passing of
10 United States Army PFC E3 Devin Michel; and be it further
 
11     RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Devin Michel and his
12 willingness to serve his country, which led to him making the
13 ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to the family of United States Army Private First
16 Class E3 Devin Michel as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
