SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Alicia Ann (Tish) Mercer of Chicago, who
4 passed away on September 28, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She was born on August 31, 1950 to Alvin and
6 Vivian Mercer; she was educated in the Chicago Public Schools,
7 and attended Northwestern University; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Her early employment included disc jockeying at
9 Northwestern, managing her own modeling agency, and doing
10 voice-over work and hand commercials with various advertisers;
11 she worked with mentors at the City of Chicago (Eugene Barnes)
12 and the State of Illinois (former Senate President Emil Jones);
13 she later worked as a human resources director with the Chicago
14 Housing Authority; and lastly with her own company, ATM Global
15 Resources; and
 
16     WHEREAS, She was a faithful servant of God and an active
17 member of Trinity United Church of Christ for many years; and
 
18     WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her father, Alvin
19 Mercer; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Alicia Ann (Tish) Mercer is survived by her

1 mother, Vivian; her sisters, Debbie, Pamela, and Cynthia; her
2 brothers, Halahiel (Gregory)/ (Cocaveh), Archie (Marsha), and
3 Andre (Joy); her niece, Traci Mercer-Hall (Dwayne); her aunt
4 and uncle, Aleda and Cornelius Goodwin; her cousins, William,
5 Brian, and Ahjae; her nephews, Robbie (Hope), LeCean, Timothy,
6 Aaron, Dontrel, and Christopher; her grand-nieces, Karcyn,
7 Kennydi, and Azariah; her grand-nephews, Joshua, Nicholas, and
8 Zachary; a host of nieces and nephews in Israel; and her
9 friends; therefore, be it
 
10     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
11 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12 her family and friends, the passing of Alicia Ann (Tish)
13 Mercer; and be it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to the family of Alicia Ann (Tish) Mercer as a symbol
16 of our sincere sympathy.
