SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of James Lee "JT Goodfoot" Thomas of Peoria,
4 who passed away on September 28, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, James Thomas was born on November 14, 1951, in
6 Sweet Water, Alabama, to Terow Wiley Sr. and Irene Thomas; he
7 married Eunice (Wright) Thomas; and
 
8     WHEREAS, James Thomas earned his bachelor's degree from
9 Bradley University; he was a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha
10 Fraternity Inc.; and
 
11     WHEREAS, James Thomas was founder and organizer of the
12 1980s-1990s popular R&B band Sex Appeal and was the host of
13 "Bourbon Street Live" on Channel 22; he was affectionately
14 known in the Peoria community as "JT Goodfoot"; and
 
15     WHEREAS, James Thomas worked for the Department of Children
16 and Family Services for 29 years; he last worked as a day care
17 licensing representative; and
 
18     WHEREAS, James Thomas was a member of St. Bernard's
19 Catholic Church; and

1     WHEREAS, James Thomas was preceded in death by his father;
2 and
 
3     WHEREAS, James Thomas is survived by his friend for life,
4 Eunice Thomas; his mother, Irene Thomas; his sons, Tracy
5 (Tyanne) Wright and Timothy Wright; his daughters, Margaret
6 Wright and Shirlethia Thomas; his brothers, Percy (Diane)
7 Thomas, Terow Wiley Jr., and Lee Thomas; his sisters, Kristine
8 (Rueben) Camacho, Kathlynn Daniels, and Betty Wiley; his 15
9 grandchildren; his 3 foster grandsons; and his many nieces,
10 nephews, other relatives, and friends; therefore, be it
 
11     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
12 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
13 his family and friends, the passing of James Lee "JT Goodfoot"
14 Thomas; and be it further
 
15     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16 presented to the family of James Thomas as an expression of our
17 sympathy.
