SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Akeem Christopher Boone of Carrollton,
4 Georgia, who passed away on August 23, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on May 6, 1987, in Lancaster,
6 California, to Sybil J. Mercier Boone Parker and the late
7 Leeandrew C.C. Boone; he and his family lived in Chicago from
8 shortly after his birth until 1996, when they moved to Georgia;
9 and
 
10     WHEREAS, He accepted Jesus as his Savior at Zoe Christian
11 Fellowship City Church in Atlanta, Georgia; he continued to
12 serve in the ministry of the church and worked in its sound
13 booth; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He attended Campbell High School in Smyrna,
15 Georgia, where he participated in the International
16 Baccalaureate program for 3 years, played Spartans football and
17 wrestled for 4 years, and, in his junior year, won the Regional
18 Wrestling Championship for the 275-pound weight class while
19 weighing only 225 pounds; and
 
20     WHEREAS, He attended the University of West Georgia, where
21 he played for the West Georgia Wolves football team and joined

1 the brotherhood of the African American Learning Center and the
2 Black Men With Initiative under the leadership of Dr. Said
3 Sewell; and
 
4     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Akeem Christopher Boone is survived by his mother,
6 Sybil; his brother, Rashad; his sisters, Shadra and Shayla
7 (Pam); his niece, Tonja Lynn; his nephew, Tajan Leo
8 Christopher; his paternal grandmother, Glenola Lashley; and
9 his uncles, aunts, great-uncles, great-aunts, cousins, and
10 friends; therefore, be it
 
11     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
12 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
13 his family and friends, the passing of Akeem Christopher Boone;
14 and be it further
 
15     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16 presented to the family of Akeem Christopher Boone as a symbol
17 of our sincere sympathy.
