SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Shirley Rose Burklund of Peoria, who
4 passed away on August 9, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She was born on February 24, 1926, in Peoria, the
6 daughter of Arthur B. and Edna V. (Rhind) Conner; she married
7 Dale E. Burklund on March 17, 1946, in Peoria; and
 
8     WHEREAS, During World War II, she worked at Caterpillar
9 Inc. in the Treasury Department; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Living a life of love and service, Shirley was as
11 a volunteer at Proctor Hospital for 38 years and was a member
12 of the Mizph Circle of Kings Daughters; later in life, her love
13 of children called her to help at St. Paul Lutheran Pre-School;
14 and
 
15     WHEREAS, Her family was her greatest joy, especially being
16 Nana to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and
 
17     WHEREAS, She is survived by her husband, Dale; her
18 children, Janet Singer, Joyce Perino, Jayme (Rob) Hackett, and
19 Jonathan (Rita) Burklund; her grandchildren, Jennifer Perino,
20 Frank (Julie) Perino II, Rob (Lisa) Hackett II, Sarah (Jesse)

1 McDonald, Steve (Maire) Meints, Kelly Burklund, Corey
2 Burklund, and Abigail Singer; her great-grandchildren, Gracie
3 Brinker, Nicholas Perino, Michael Perino, Conner McDonald, and
4 Lucas Meints; and her sister, Mary Lu (Phillip) Wilcox;
5 therefore, be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
7 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
8 her family and friends, the passing of Shirley Burklund; and be
9 it further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the family of Shirley Burklund as a symbol of our
12 sincere sympathy.
