SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Maurice R. Roberts of Alton, who passed
4 away on July 29, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Maurice R. Roberts was born August 9, 1925, in
6 Alton, the son of the late Richard V. and Margaret C. (Schelle)
7 Roberts; he married the former Bernice T. Schmidt on November
8 8, 1947, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton; and
 
9     WHEREAS, He was a graduate of Shurtleff College, receiving
10 his bachelors degree in 1950; he served in the United States
11 Navy Air Corps from 1943 until 1945; and
 
12     WHEREAS, He was employed at Olin Corporation in sales and
13 marketing for 33 years, retiring in 1982; he later accepted an
14 appointment by Bishop McNicholas to serve as coordinator at
15 Marian Heights Apartments in Alton and served on its board; he
16 was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton, the St.
17 Vincent DePaul Society, and Alton Knights of Columbus, where he
18 was a Third Degree Knight; and
 
19     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his
20 brother, Dale Roberts; and his brother-in-law, Gale Aulabaugh;
21 and

1     WHEREAS, Maurice Roberts is survived by his wife, Bernice;
2 his 10 children and their spouses, Mike and Lisa Roberts, Fr.
3 Don Roberts, Debbie Roberts, Terri and Rick Martin, Jim and
4 Stacey Roberts, Jeff and Sandra Roberts, Jeanne and Joe
5 Hoefert, Marci and Eric Wendle, Andy Roberts and his friend,
6 Becky, and Mary and John Johnson; his 29 grandchildren; his six
7 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Marilyn (Roberts)
8 Aulabaugh; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11 his family and friends, the passing of Maurice R. Roberts; and
12 be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Maurice R. Roberts as a symbol of
15 our sincere sympathy.
