SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Linwood W. Turley of Carlinville, who
4 passed away on May 2, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born August 14, 1943, in Festus, Missouri,
6 the son of the late Roy Linwood Turley and the late Verble
7 Evelyn (Wallace) Turley; he married Doris Elaine Morse in the
8 Carlinville United Methodist Church on February 16, 1968; and
 
9     WHEREAS, He graduated from Festus High School in 1961, and
10 St. Louis College of Pharmacy in 1966; he was a Registered
11 Pharmacist for Sullivan Drugs in Carlinville since 1966; and
 
12     WHEREAS, He was a member of Carlinville United Methodist
13 Church; he loved spending time with his grandchildren, enjoyed
14 fishing, and model trains; he was in the Carlinville Lions Club
15 for 25+ years, a member of the Illinois Pharmaceutical
16 Association, and a past member of First Baptist Church in
17 Festus/Crystal City, Missouri, until he moved to Carlinville in
18 1966; and
 
19     WHEREAS, He was a Boy Scout of America Eagle Scout; he was
20 an assistant scoutmaster for BSA Troop 62 in Carlinville, and
21 later a District Commissioner for the Abraham Lincoln Council;

1 and he was a 10-year board member and past president (2006) of
2 the Central Macoupin County Rural Water District; and
 
3     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by Willis Turley, who
4 passed away in infancy; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Linwood Turley is survived by his wife, Elaine
6 Turley; his son, Mathew Turley (Erica); his sister, Virginia R.
7 Sapp; and his three grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10 his family and friends, the passing of Linwood Turley; and be
11 it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of Linwood W. Turley as a symbol of our
14 sincere sympathy.
