SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Janet G. LeWald of Naperville, who passed
4 away on March 5, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Janet LeWald was born on June 11, 1946 in Chicago;
6 her parents were Marcello and Lorraine Gino; she married
7 Kenneth LeWald Sr. on June 29, 1968; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Janet LeWald grew up in Chicago; she was a 1964
9 graduate of Mother McAuley High School; she graduated in 1968
10 from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb with a degree in
11 education; she was a co-founder of a local sorority that was
12 accepted as a national Alpha Phi Chapter; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Janet LeWald was employed with the Special
14 Education Department at Naperville Central High School as a
15 substitute teacher and a special education assistant; she was
16 also employed at SCARCE (School & Community Assistance for
17 Recycling and Composting Education) in Glen Ellyn for the past
18 18 years, where she served as an environmental educator and as
19 a contributor to RIPPLES, SCARCE's environmental newsletter;
20 and
 
21     WHEREAS, Janet LeWald was ahead of her time in

1 understanding the need for conservation and recycling, having
2 set up a curbside recycling program in her Naperville
3 subdivision during the 1970s, long before such programs became
4 fashionable; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Janet LeWald was a member of St. Margaret Mary
6 Church in Naperville; she enjoyed spending time with her
7 children and grandchildren, writing, and swimming; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Janet LeWald was preceded in death by her parents;
9 and
 
10     WHEREAS, Janet LeWald is survived by her husband; her
11 children, Nicole (Andy) Powell, Kenneth "Kip" LeWald Jr., and
12 Kari (Regan) Miller; her grandchildren, Abigail, Tessa, and
13 Emmett Powell and Mackenzie, Ella, and Charlotte Miller; her
14 siblings, Karen (Bob) Bruno, Marcia (Dan) Doeden, Bob (Nancy)
15 Gino, Denise (Mike) Smith, and Diane (Joe) Goulah; and her many
16 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
17     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
18 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
19 her family and friends, the passing of Janet G. LeWald; and be
20 it further
 
21     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
