SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Carol M. Piascik Townsend of Springfield,
4 who passed away on February 26, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She was born on July 28, 1937, in Chicago, the
6 daughter of Benjamin and Rose V. Jasinski Piascik; she married
7 Michael Townsend on September 3, 1960 in Springfield; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Carol was employed by the State of Illinois for
9 over 30 years, last serving in the Secretary of State's office;
10 she was a member of Prairieland Dance Club, volunteered with
11 Right to Life, and in the 1960's taught dance at Arthur Murray
12 Studio; she loved dance, music, and enjoyed traveling; above
13 all, she cherished her family, her Catholic faith, and her
14 Polish heritage; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Preceding her in death are her parents; her
16 sister, Rose Marie; her stepfather, Dutch Imel; and her aunt,
17 Adeline Ciesielski; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Carol Townsend is survived by her husband,
19 Michael; her daughters, Laura Townsend, Julie (husband, Jeff)
20 Keeney, Jenny Townsend (Marty Santarelli), and Angie (husband,
21 James) Burleson; her seven grandchildren, Jerry Roof, Ian

1 Ericksen, Hannah Keeney, Chloe Pointer, Madeline and Daniel
2 Burleson, and Eli Hill; her twin sister, Nancy K. Barley; and
3 her sister, Ann Link; her numerous nieces and nephews,
4 especially Ronnie and Donna Ciesielski; and friends of the
5 family, Paul Tuck and Jane Stonesifer; therefore, be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
7 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
8 her family and friends, the passing of Carol Townsend; and be
9 it further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the family of Carol Townsend as a symbol of our
12 sincere sympathy.
