SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Roderick L. "Rod" Webel of Baylis, who
4 passed away on December 8, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born March 3, 1964, in Quincy, to Maurice
6 N. and Mary Eileen Wilson Webel; he married Stacy Carter on
7 September 11, 1993, at the Pittsfield United Methodist Church;
8 and
 
9     WHEREAS, Rod was a member of the Detroit Christian Church;
10 he was a John Wood Community College Orr Agriculture Center
11 graduate; his family was named the 1997 Top Farm Family in the
12 Nation; he was the President of the Western Illinois Fair
13 Board, a member of the Griggsville-Perry Board of Education,
14 John Wood Advisory Board, and the Pike County Farm Bureau
15 Board; and
 
16     WHEREAS, He was active locally with the Muscular Dystrophy
17 Association, working with the telethon; he enjoyed hunting,
18 traveling (especially cruises), spending time with his family,
19 and working on his farm; and
 
20     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice
21 and Mary Webel; and his brother and sister-in-law, Don and Pat

2     WHEREAS, Rod Webel is survived by his wife, Stacy Webel;
3 his sons, Wilson Lee "Will" Webel and Dustin Robert "Dusty"
4 Webel; a special friend, Jessica Funk; his in-laws, Robert and
5 Carol Carter; his brother-in-law, Kirk (Vicky) Carter; his
6 brothers, Max (Kathryn) Webel, Stephen (Janet) Webel, and Gene
7 (Kathy) Webel; his sisters, Mrs. Kay (William) Fugate and Ann
8 Williamson; his aunt, Florence Wilson; several nieces and
9 nephews; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews;
10 therefore, be it
 
11     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
12 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
13 his family and friends, the passing of Roderick "Rod" Webel;
14 and be it further
 
15     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16 presented to the family of Roderick Webel as a symbol of our
17 sincere sympathy.
