SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
65 ILCS 5/7-4-7   from Ch. 24, par. 7-4-7

    Amends the Illinois Municipal Code. Authorizes a municipality to opt out of a police district by an affirmative vote of a majority of the members of the municipality's corporate authority. Provides that a municipality that opts out of a police district may later opt in to the district by an affirmative vote of a majority of the members of the corporate authority. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by
5 changing Section 7-4-7 as follows:
 
6     (65 ILCS 5/7-4-7)  (from Ch. 24, par. 7-4-7)
7     Sec. 7-4-7. Police district. The territory which is
8 embraced within the corporate limits of adjoining
9 municipalities within any county in this State shall be a
10 police district, unless the corporate authorities of an
11 adjoining municipality, by an affirmative vote of a majority of
12 its members, opt out of the police district. A municipality
13 that opts out of a police district under this Section may opt
14 in to the police district by an affirmative vote of a majority
15 of the members of the corporate authority.

17     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
18 becoming law.
