AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2229

2     AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2229 by replacing
3 everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4     "Section 5. The Downstate Public Transportation Act is
5 amended by changing Section 2-15.2 as follows:
 
6     (30 ILCS 740/2-15.2)
7     Sec. 2-15.2. Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, no
8 later than 60 days following the effective date of this
9 amendatory Act of the 95th General Assembly, any fixed route
10 public transportation services provided by, or under grant or
11 purchase of service contracts of, every participant, as defined
12 in Section 2-2.02 (1)(a), shall be provided without charge to
13 all senior citizen residents of the participant aged 65 and
14 older who meet the income eligibility limitation set forth in
15 subsection (a-5) of Section 4 of the Senior Citizens and
16 Disabled Persons Property Tax Relief and Pharmaceutical

1 Assistance Act, under such conditions as shall be prescribed by
2 the participant. The Department on Aging shall furnish all
3 information reasonably necessary to determine eligibility,
4 including updated lists of individuals who are eligible for
5 services without charge under this Section.

7     Section 10. The Metropolitan Transit Authority Act is
8 amended by changing Section 51 as follows:
 
9     (70 ILCS 3605/51)
10     Sec. 51. Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, no later
11 than 60 days following the effective date of this amendatory
12 Act of the 95th General Assembly, any fixed route public
13 transportation services provided by, or under grant or purchase
14 of service contracts of, the Board shall be provided without
15 charge to all senior citizens of the Metropolitan Region (as
16 such term is defined in 70 ILCS 3615/1.03) aged 65 and older
17 who meet the income eligibility limitation set forth in
18 subsection (a-5) of Section 4 of the Senior Citizens and
19 Disabled Persons Property Tax Relief and Pharmaceutical
20 Assistance Act, under such conditions as shall be prescribed by
21 the Board. The Department on Aging shall furnish all
22 information reasonably necessary to determine eligibility,
23 including updated lists of individuals who are eligible for
24 services without charge under this Section.

2     Section 15. The Local Mass Transit District Act is amended
3 by changing Section 8.6 as follows:
 
4     (70 ILCS 3610/8.6)
5     Sec. 8.6. Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, no later
6 than 60 days following the effective date of this amendatory
7 Act of the 95th General Assembly, any fixed route public
8 transportation services provided by, or under grant or purchase
9 of service contracts of, every District shall be provided
10 without charge to all senior citizens of the District aged 65
11 and older who meet the income eligibility limitation set forth
12 in subsection (a-5) of Section 4 of the Senior Citizens and
13 Disabled Persons Property Tax Relief and Pharmaceutical
14 Assistance Act, under such conditions as shall be prescribed by
15 the District. The Department on Aging shall furnish all
16 information reasonably necessary to determine eligibility,
17 including updated lists of individuals who are eligible for
18 services without charge under this Section.

20     Section 20. The Regional Transportation Authority Act is
21 amended by changing Sections 3A.15 and 3B.14 as follows:

1     Sec. 3A.15. Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, no
2 later than 60 days following the effective date of this
3 amendatory Act of the 95th General Assembly, any fixed route
4 public transportation services provided by, or under grant or
5 purchase of service contracts of, the Suburban Bus Board shall
6 be provided without charge to all senior citizens of the
7 Metropolitan Region aged 65 and older who meet the income
8 eligibility limitation set forth in subsection (a-5) of Section
9 4 of the Senior Citizens and Disabled Persons Property Tax
10 Relief and Pharmaceutical Assistance Act, under such
11 conditions as shall be prescribed by the Suburban Bus Board.
12 The Department on Aging shall furnish all information
13 reasonably necessary to determine eligibility, including
14 updated lists of individuals who are eligible for services
15 without charge under this Section.

23 be provided without charge to all senior citizens of the
24 Metropolitan Region aged 65 and older who meet the income
25 eligibility limitation set forth in subsection (a-5) of Section
