1     AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Aeronautics Act is amended by
5 changing Section 25 as follows:
 
6     (620 ILCS 5/25)  (from Ch. 15 1/2, par. 22.25)
7     Sec. 25. Declarations. It is hereby declared that that the
8 purpose of this Act is to further the public interest and
9 aeronautical progress by providing for the protection and
10 promotion of safety in aeronautics; by cooperating in effecting
11 a uniformity of the laws relating to the development and
12 regulation of aeronautics in the several states; by revising
13 existing statutes relative to the development and regulation of
14 aeronautics so as to grant to a state agency such powers and
15 impose upon it such duties that the state may properly perform
16 its functions relative to aeronautics and effectively exercise
17 its jurisdiction over persons and property within such
18 jurisdiction, may assist in the promotion of a State-wide
19 system of airports, may cooperate with and assist the political
20 subdivisions of this State and others engaged in aeronautics,
21 and may encourage and develop aeronautics; by establishing
22 uniform rules and regulations, consistent, so far as
23 practicable, with Federal rules and regulations, in order that

1 those engaged in aeronautics of every character may so engage
2 with the least possible restriction, consistent with their
3 safety and with the safety and the rights of others; and by
4 providing for cooperation with the Federal authorities in the
5 development of a national system of civil aviation and for
6 coordination of the aeronautical activities of those
7 authorities and the authorities of this State by assisting in
8 accomplishing the purposes of federal legislation and
9 eliminating costly and unnecessary duplication of functions
10 properly in the province of federal agencies.
