Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code. Provides that if an applicant for medical assistance is a resident in a nursing home, the Department of Healthcare and Family Services must notify the nursing home, in writing, of the Department's decision on the application. Effective immediately.

| AN ACT concerning public aid.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by |
| 5 |
| adding Section 5-1.3 as follows:
|
| 6 |
| (305 ILCS 5/5-1.3 new) |
| 7 |
| Sec. 5-1.3. Applicant who is a nursing home resident. If an |
| 8 |
| applicant for medical assistance is a resident in a facility |
| 9 |
| licensed by the Department of Public Health under the Nursing |
| 10 |
| Home Care Act, the Department of Healthcare and Family Services |
| 11 |
| must notify the facility, in writing, of the Department's |
| 12 |
| decision on the application for medical assistance.

| 13 |
| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 14 |
| becoming law.
